Help Content
The Turbine Details page contains information about each asset, such as its make, model, and serial number, all images captured during the inspection, and all anomaly data from the inspection.
The Inspection Workflow
An Asset Inspection goes through 5 statuses that describe the work being done:
- Data Capture –– the inspection has been created, and is ready for images to be captured and uploaded
- Prescreen –– images have been uploaded and available to be viewed, prescreened and flagged for further review
- Analysis –– flagged images are ready to be analyzed by an expert, and annotated with anomaly data
- Review –– images have been analyzed and are ready for client review
- Complete –– images have been analyzed, and anomaly data can be exported as reports or a CSV
When you (or a qualified member of your team) have concluded their portion of the inspection, click on the status dropdown in the top right to move the inspection forward to the next step.
Blade View
The Blade View of a Wind Turbine Inspection is where most of an Inspection takes place. It has several notable areas:
- Turbine Details
- Blade Navigation
- Image Viewer
- Inspection Tools
- Share Inspection Link
- Inspection Image/ List view
- Anomaly Details
- Repair Workflow
- Comments
- Anomaly List
- Keyboard shortcuts
Turbine Details
The Turbine Details contains specific information about the turbine, such as its pad number, serial number, make, and model. Click “See More” for extra information, such as blade serial numbers and the turbine’s GPS coordinates.
Historical Blade Inspection view
The date drop-down at the top of the page indicates the inspection date of the inspection you are currently viewing. You can also view historical inspections (if available) by clicking on the drop-down to select an older inspection.
Blade Navigation
The Blade Navigation lets you switch between each blade’s inspection images and anomaly data. Click on a blade letter (A, B, or C) to select a blade. The “all four sides” diagram below shows each side of the selected blade, with dots representing each drone image, precisely where on the blade it was taken.
The color of the dot indicates the importance of the image:
- A gray dot denotes that the image has neither been flagged for review nor indicates any anomalies
- A purple dot denotes that the image has been flagged by a prescreener, and requires further examination by a qualified expert, such as a blade engineer or thermographer.
- A green, yellow, orange, or red dot denotes that the image exhibits at least one anomaly. The specific color represents the most severe anomaly found in the image, with green representing low severity, and red representing high severity.
The white outline indicates which image is currently selected. By default only images with anomalies are visible, to view all images by removing the checkbox “ Flagged Image Only” on the top right corner of the blade diagram.
Image Viewer
Click on a dot to open that image in the Image Viewer. Images can be dragged and zoomed for a more detailed look.
Inspection Tools
When you observe an anomaly in the image, use the Inspection Tools in the top right to annotate it.
- The Flag Tool lets you flag an image for further review by an expert, or un-flag an image if you’ve determined that it contains no anomalies.
- The Measure Tool allows you to measure two points on the blade.
- The Polygon Tool lets you draw a polygon around an anomaly. Click the image to add points and surround the anomaly; to close the shape, click the first point or double click the final point. Drag a point to adjust the size and shape of the polygon.
- The Rectangle Tool lets you draw a rectangular polygon around an anomaly. Click and hold to begin drawing a rectangle, then drag the mouse and release to finish drawing. Drag the points to adjust the size of the rectangle.
- A Comparison View allows you to see a comparison between two different images or inspections which is helpful for comparing inspections. For example, a comparison for the progress of an anomaly or comparison of anomaly before and after repair.
- Image Adjustment tool allows users to adjust the images with options below and apply to the image on the viewer or all images on each blade's sides you are looking at.
- Brightness
- Contrast
- Saturation
- Highlights
- Shadows
- Sharpness
- Grayscale
- Negative
Anomaly Details
Once you’ve drawn a polygon around the observed anomaly, the Anomaly Details opens. To save new anomaly data, select:
- The type of anomaly
- The element of the asset that is affected
- The severity of the anomaly
- The size of the anomaly
- The location of the anomaly, as a distance from the root and distance from the leading edge
- An action / status regarding how to follow up on the anomaly
- An optional comment for others to read
And then click Save to create the anomaly data.
You may encounter an image that provides another view of an already-saved anomaly – further along the blade, or taken from a different side of the blade.
- Outline the anomaly on the new image with a polygon
- Select an existing anomaly from the Anomaly ID list instead of entering new data
- Click Save
Both image polygons will now be associated with the same anomaly. There is no limit to how many image polygons can be associated with a single anomaly, but only one polygon per image can be used.
If 2 polygons overlap you can control click to toggle the selection of the 2 different anomalies.
Anomaly List
Click on the “Anomalies” tab below the Image Viewer to expand the Anomaly List and view all recorded anomalies for the current Asset Inspection. Click on an anomaly in the list to see it in the Image Viewer and make changes, if necessary.
Repair Workflow
In the repair workflow tab, you can set actions on an anomaly basis. No fields are required so you can use this to manage repairs by flagging actions or you can use it as a place to store repair documents and other information after the repair is completed.
- Follow-up Action
- Follow-up Time
- Root Cause
- Status
- Repair Ref. ID
- Repair Cost
- Repair Team
- Repair Date
- Repair Documents
Anomaly Comments
You can add a comment to an anomaly with the timestamp.
