Inspection Overview
This section contains specific information about the latest inspection, divided into 2 separate tabs.
- The Overview Tab breaks down information for the entire site, including recommendations associated with each building’s imagery & anomaly data. The Overview Tab includes a full summary of inspection details with information about the overall condition of the asset and anomalies to prioritize. Below the overview are recommendations that include aerial imagery and the associated anomaly findings captured during the site inspection.
- The Deliverables Tab displays the mission deliverables, including inspection images, orthomosaics, panoramas, and more. Each inspection image is tagged with an anomaly severity indicator and can be accessed through the deliverables tab on the right side of the window or by clicking the anomaly marker within the property outline.
Anomaly Filters
The Anomaly Filters let you filter the set of anomalies presented in the Anomaly Map and Deliverables Tab by anomaly type and/or severity. Active filters are indicated by the teal checkbox and are visible in the top left of the map window.
The legend, seen within the bottom drawer, indicates the anomaly types and severities or AI processing applied to each inspection.
- Critical (red)
- Priority (orange)
- Moderate (yellow)
- Thermal
- Confirmed hail
- AI Preflagged
- No anomaly indicated (Purple)
Display Layers
Layer options allow you to customize the map’s data and visualization. By default the Anomalies, Property Outlines, RGB Orthomosaic, and Satellite Hybrid are toggled on.
To see the location of the images captured for an inspection, toggle the “RGB Images” and/or “Thermal Images”.
The orthomosaic layers provide key visuals across the inspected areas of a property. Toggling on the thermal orthomosaic includes a thermal tuner (on the right side of the map).
Deliverables Tab
The Deliverables tab displays inspection media, including inspection images, orthomosaics, panoramas, and videos.
The Deliverables tab dynamically works with the map view. When you zoom into a section, the number of images in the deliverable will be filtered down to the area you see on the map.
Users can use the “All Deliverables” dropdown to select different image buckets, such as map images, panoramas, close-up shots, etc.
Inspection images
Images provide a high-resolution view of the property from varying angles to support virtual inspections. There are two key ways to navigate to an image:
- Click on an image from the Deliverables tab.
- Click on an image marker from the Map.
Inspection Videos
If an inspection includes video capture, customers will receive videos at the same time they receive their images. Inspection videos will be stored in the Deliverables tab alongside images and can be quickly identified by the play button, as seen below.
For quick access to all videos within that inspection, users can filter their view by selecting the Videos option within the All Deliverables drop-down list.
Selecting a video from the Deliverables tab will automatically start that video, defaulted to mute if applicable. Depending on the browser, users will have the ability to pause and play, fast forward or rewind, control volume, and view their videos in fullscreen mode.
Flagged Media
Flagging allows users to aggregate key images (including videos) into one bucket: Flagged Media. This is valuable when an inspection contains hundreds or thousands of images, enabling users or collaborators to quickly refer to these important media files.
There are two methods to flag an image: hovering over a thumbnail and when reviewing an image.
Hovering over a Thumbnail
Hover over an image (or video) thumbnail within the Deliverables tab to reveal the flag icon, then select it.
Reviewing an Image
When users are reviewing an image, they’ll find the flagging icon in the top left-hand side of the window.
Both flagged images and videos are aggregated within the Flagged Media bucket.
Flagging images can also be helpful when creating custom reports.
Analysis Tools
Our platform offers a variety of tools for creating and editing anomalies during inspections, whether on images or orthomosaics (orthos). Users can utilize the rectangle tool for standard shapes, the freehand tool for custom polygons, the line tool for measuring distances or boundaries, and the pin tool for marking specific points of interest.
These annotation tools are now overlaid onto the map and image views on the top left side. Users will also see the new Measurements tab next to the Anomalies tab within the bottom drawer.
Varying Annotation Types and Their Visual Identifiers:
- Purple: General areas without anomalies.
- RGB-Based Anomalies: Color-coded by severity—yellow for minor, orange for moderate, and red for severe issues.
- IR-Based Anomalies: White with an orange triangle, either standalone or attached to a polygon.
- AI-Confirmed Hail: Purple with a storm cloud icon.
These tools and indicators help streamline the anomaly documentation process, ensuring accurate and efficient analysis.
Creating Anomalies
If an inspection will be analyzed by the customer, users can access their data when that inspection’s status is in “analysis”; if an inspection will be analyzed by Zeitiview, users can access their data when that inspection’s status is in “review.”
Open an inspection to begin. Users will see purple dots on top of their orthomosaic map; these dots indicate the drone’s GPS location when the image was captured. Select a dot to open that image or choose an image from the Deliverables tab.
Creating Annotations on Images
Once viewing an image, users can select the polygon tool from the annotation tools overlaid onto the map and image views on the top left side.
Click and drag to create an anomaly bounding box on the image.
After bounding the anomaly, the right-hand drawer will automatically open with applicable data and options. Users can provide details such as anomaly type and severity. Based on the anomaly type and severity, Property insights will auto-populate a hazard statement and a recommendation that can be edited by the user.
All image-based annotations will include an optional “Name” field, the associated property area, and anomaly inputs. Note that these annotations will not provide measurement data.
Once all fields are complete, save the anomaly. After saving, the bounding box will change color to match the anomaly’s severity. The image marker (or dot) on the orthomosaic will also represent the anomaly’s severity.
All image-based anomalies will be stored within the Anomalies tab (in the bottom drawer).
Creating Annotations on Orthomosaics
After placing an annotation, the drawer (on the right-hand side of the screen) will automatically open with applicable data and options. Ortho-based annotations will include an optional “Name” field, measurement data (if applicable), and the associated property area identifier as well as the option to turn that annotation into an anomaly using the toggle. If the annotation does not contain an anomaly, it will be saved as a measurement (within the Measurement tab); if it does contain an anomaly it will be saved within the Anomalies tab.
Toggling the Anomaly 'on' will turn that annotation into an anomaly after the anomaly type and severity level have been selected and saved.
Observation type Annotations
Customers and internal analysts want the ability to document items of interest, and report on them, but they don’t want to associate an anomaly or severity to it. Until now, that wasn’t possible.
Observations provide users with the ability to point out items and include a note for informational purposes within the platform and inspection reports.
Creating observations
Creating observations is initiated the same method as anomalies, measurements, and costs, by placing an annotation on an ortho or image.
Select the new ‘Anomaly | Observation’ tab (within the right side annotation drawer). Select the ‘Observation’ radial button, add notes, and save it.
All saved observations will be stored within the bottom drawer, within the 'Observations' tab
Observations in reports
The Observation section is, by default, included in all Zeitview report templates. If customers have existing custom report templates they can incorporate the Observations page into them by editing their templates within the Settings tab.
Estimated Costs
Customers now have the ability to adjust their costs by changing unit costs, as this is how they base their proposals. Additionally, we've addressed customer questions regarding how included cost data is derived by incorporating links to EstimateOn’s methodology documentation. These feature enhancements can be seen in both Insights and PDF reports.
Applying Costs to Inspections
Internal analysts and customers can associate costs with inspection issues. Users will utilize annotation tools such as the rectangle, freehand, line, and pin to initiate this process. Cost estimates require measurement data and are automatically integrated into annotations when placed on the ortho. Cost annotations placed on a single image will require manual input.
Adding Cost to Ortho-Based Annotations
To begin, place the annotation within the bounds of the ortho. The annotation drawer will open with the ‘Estimated Costs’ tab selected. In the auto-suggest search field, start typing a 'job type’ (or what needs to be done to resolve that issue).
For example, if an EPDM roof section needs to be replaced, a user could start typing “EPDM” (or “replace”) to view available job types. If the search results provide the correct job type, select it; otherwise, choose ‘Add Custom Line Item’ to fill in the details manually.
Once all job types are added to the annotation, save it. All saved cost data will be stored in the bottom drawer within the ‘Estimated Costs’ tab, allowing users to click on any row to view its details.
Adding Cost to Image-Based Annotations
To begin, place the annotation over an image. The annotation drawer will open with the ‘Anomaly' tab selected, followed by the ‘Estimated Costs’ tab. In the auto-suggest search field, start typing a 'job type’ (or what needs to be done to resolve that issue).
For example, if a rooftop HVAC unit needs repairing, users could start typing “heat” to view available job types. If the search results provide the correct job type, select it; otherwise, choose ‘Add Custom Line Item’ to fill in the details manually. Please note that any quantity field within image-based costs needs to be reviewed and adjusted accordingly since image-based annotations do not have measurement data. The provided quantity serves as a starting point for adjustment.
Once all job types are added, save it. All saved cost data will be stored in the bottom drawer within the ‘Estimated Costs’ tab.
Insights
Now, after applying a job type (cost line item), users will also see the ‘Unit Cost’ field between the ‘Quantity’ and ‘Estimated Cost’ fields. The unit cost can be edited to adjust that line item’s estimated cost. On the left side of the ‘Estimated Cost’ name, users will find an info icon. By hovering over it, users can click on the hyperlinked text to learn more.
Downloading Deliverables
Your deliverables (images and orthomosaic map) can be downloaded from the insights platform in several ways. To download all deliverables or select a set of deliverables, click the download icon in the top right-hand window of the inspection details page.
If a zip file for the deliverable has been generated, you will begin an instant download. If the zip file has not finished processing, you will receive a notification and email when the file is available for download.
To download individual images, hover over the desired image, click the “download” icon in the top right corner, or download directly from the image details window.
Reports
The Reports drop down list consists of three notable areas:
- Zeitview Initial Reports: This section will contain the reports analyzed and created by Zeitview analysts (if applicable for that inspection). They will not change and can be downloaded at any time.

Quickly export using report templates
For reports that do not contain custom pages, users can quickly export inspection reports by simply selecting a template from the 'Export with Templates' fly-out menu. Reports with custom pages are delineated with the 'i' in a circle on the right side of the template's name; if these are selected you will be taken into the custom report view to finalize.
Using templates to create custom reports
Within any inspection in Insights, customers can access Zeitview and their report templates when customizing an inspection report. Templates can be used as a starting point to customize a report or they can be simply exported as is.
Accessing templates from ‘Select report template’ dropdown
After a template is selected, the report title, cover image, logo, and content layout will be automatically updated. For example, the Zeitview template “Inspection Report” will provide Zeitivew’s default cover page and report content.
The content will represent the number of property areas within that inspection, i.e. if there are 3 property areas in that inspection, users will see an Overview and Anomaly Details for each property area.
The pages housed in this template can be removed or rearranged to accommodate that inspection's needs.
Content pages can rearranged as needed
Save and/or download reports once all customizations are complete.
Download
There are two estimated costs pages within our PDF reports: 1) Estimated Cost Summary and 2) Estimated Cost Details. The summary version pulls in the total cost associated with each property area, while the detailed version pulls in all line items associated with a specific property area.
The report will display the unit cost within the ‘Estimated Cost Details’ section, rounding up to the nearest dollar.
Links to Verisk’s EstimateOn cost information will be stored within the ‘Definitions’ section of reports.
Similarly to Insights, clicking the “here” hyperlink will take users to the EstimateOn methodology page.
Users can also customize their reports to include these sections within the customize report UI.
